Here’s an article about pollution generated by off-road vehicles on Oceano’s dunes. Vehicle activity on the dunes is causing pollution in nearby Nipomo, and the issue apparently “cannot be ignored.”
I love this quote:
“Kris Vardas, Pismo Beach’s representative on the panel, said the board needs to protect public health but keep in mind that Oceano Dunes is economically important to nearby cities.”
That’s the perspective that has screwed the world we live in.
Close it down! Maybe the area would attract a more sophisticated tourist base (there, I said it), encouraging more interesting restaurants, cafes in Oceano and Pismo Beach, inspiring other tourist dollars.
Save the dunes, save Nipomo’s air.

Safe Beach Now agrees. Save the dunes, save Nipomo’s air. See our documentaries at safebeachanddunes.org and our mission statement at safebeachnow.org
Nell, thank you so much for your post supporting my perspective. I admire the work you all are up to! Thank you!
