My name is Caity McCardell: vegan, homeschooling, natural parenting, cohousing mama. I used to be called Caitilin Alanah McPherson, but I gave up that name when I got married. In this blog I share some of my parenting style and write about topics like personal development, self-exploration, books, current events and personal rants. Mostly I just post photos of my kids.
I started running in December 2009. Running barefoot is perfectly aligned with my values around homeschooling, home birth, natural birth and veganism. Some day I’ll write something about how they all relate, but if you’re a barefoot runner yourself, perhaps you can see it.
I have a daughter named Gianna who was born on Halloween 2002 and a son named Colin who was born in 2005. Stefan is my husband and he’s an amazing music composer. He works from home as a software engineer, but his true love is music. We’ve been married since October 2000… we tied the knot in Delancey Street in San Francisco and went to Boston and Bermuda for our honeymoon. Have we had a great vacation since then? Yes – we went to Kauai, Hawaii in 2008.
I love rollerskating, body boarding, surfing (I’m a beginner), reading (who doesn’t?), writing, running, group dynamics, animals (human beings included, most of the time), and family. My children are the center of the universe.
A group of friends and I are starting a Sudbury Democratic Model school called Sage Creek Sudbury in San Luis Obispo.
We live in Tierra Nueva cohousing in California’s Central Coast. We’re surrounded by avocado trees and the Pacific Ocean and the ups and downs of human interaction. We love it here.
