After tonight’s meal of cous cous and fake meat made from Gardein Garden Protein, I’ve sworn off analogue flesh. We had BBQ Pulled Shreds (fake shredded chicken)… and Santa Fe Good Stuff (fake stuffed chicken breast)… and boy do I need to drink some water. Eating that food was like screwing a fake vagina – there’s something [...] I love going barefoot, so when I found Vibram’s Five Fingers shoes in Kauai last year I fell in love. They’re really just foot protection for people who prefer bare feet, and I got me a pair for my birthday in July. Anders asked me today if these shoes are addictive, which isn’t a strange [...] One of the best things about the San Francisco Chronicle’s online presence, SFGate.com, is the commentary at the end of each news piece. The reader comments are often the best part of reading the news, which is a reflection of how I appreciate hearing people’s perspectives, learning from groups, etc. I like reading the reporting [...] I read some parental complaints that the movie Up was too scary for their preschoolers and grade schoolers, so I prepped the kids before we went. We watched a bit of the movie when scary-looking dogs are chasing the main characters. My kids thought it was exciting and couldn’t wait to see the film on [...] I am really looking forward to seeing this film! Erik Marcus of Vegan.com has this to say: “If the movie’s half as good as the trailer, it’ll be the best and most subversive food-oriented movie of all time.” There are two (count ‘em) TWO environmentally-friendly restaurants next door to Trader Joe’s in San Luis Obispo. One is Evos, a burger joint that has air baked fries. Quick comment: Don’t take their food home – it tastes much better fresh out of the air baking unit. They have vegan food! I’d never had anything fancy done to my skin beyond a mask, though it’s been tempting to do peels and scrapes and other things that sound incredibly… bad. We did some research when our old Sears vacuum died… the one that cost us $250 in repairs alone over the last four years (not to mention $200 to buy it in the first place)… the one that weighs 40 pounds… the one that intimidates the children… [...] My VitaMix is my favorite kitchen appliance.
